Skirted Tankini
Choosing A Skirted Tankini For Beachwear
Summer rolls around and with it the eternal dieting in order to look good in our bathing suits. Or that's what we tell ourselves anyways. The truth of the matter is that there are many types of swimsuits to choose from. No being stuck with the old standbys of a one piece or bikini. Now we have boy short bottoms and bikini tops. Or tank tops with bikini bottoms. Mix and match is the order of the day, and it's time to have fun with it!
Those with fuller figures don't have to be stuck with the one piece suit anymore. Swimsuit designers have given us the two piece tankini. The word tankini is short hand for a tank top style upper and a bikini bottom. In general, the bikini bottom is of a more modest cut, coming just below the top of the thigh to create a smooth line. High cut bikini bottoms are on the market for those who prefer the look instead. They're also intended to be a wardrobe piece of sorts, giving the consumer the option to swap pieces around. A different look for different days of the week if they please. And for those who want to cover up a bit more but still look stylish, there are Skirted Tankinis just for them.
A skirted tankini has the standard tank top, but the bottom half is styled a bit differently. Instead of being a bikini bottom, it gives the appearance of a skirt. Relax. It's not as if you're going to wear a skirt to go swimming in. Some designs are of a short but flippy skirt over a regular bottom that provides 100% privacy. Others harken back to the look of the 1940's a la Esther Williams. The 40's type look is a clean and long line that looks unbroken from the shoulder to the bottom of the skirt.
It is ultimately up to the consumer which design they prefer. A skirt style hides a number of "flaws" that the wearer may want to hide. Then there are days that you just may not feel up to putting on something revealing or just prefer to have a different level of comfort. The wearer can never go wrong with the timeless style that is the tankini.
